Patrick Dionne and Miki Ggingras (Montreal, Québec), in Carleton-sur-mer
Patrick Dionne and Miki Gingras (Montreal, Québec) are doing different creation stints in the Gaspé in 2021 to devote themselves to a work in augmented reality. That work will complement the permanent mural Tracadigash, which they created for Carleton-sur-Mer’s 250th, in 2017.
Mathilde Lavenne (Paris, France) in the Gaspé and the Eastern townships
As part of a digital project concerned with recording memory through photography and literature established by Rencontres and Diaphane (France), French artist Mathilde Lavenne will be carrying out, as soon as the health context allows, a creation residency in the Gaspé and the Eastern Townships. She’ll be accompanied in carrying out her project by the digital framework Sporobole in Sherbrooke. The evolution of her project will be documented on the Web platforms of Rencontres and Diaphane in 2021, after which her digital work will be presented in 2022 at Rencontres and at Photaumnales. A digital residency will also be undertaken in France by Québec artist Natacha Clitandre.
Mélissa Longpré (Montreal, Québec) in the Gaspé
Mélissa Longpré (Montreal, Québec), is doing a number of creation stints in the region where she was born, the Gaspé Peninsula, in 2021. In her residencies her focus is on natural specimens and on found objects, as well as on the environment they come from. She collects these curiosities with her camera or takes them back to the studio to transform them and create compositions. Her approach combines art, science and poetry.
